Nubago was created specifically for Monção and its Festa do Alvarinho, reflecting the identity of the territory and the celebration of Alvarinho wine culture.

The installation is born from the primordial form of the grape berry, a living cell that multiplies and expands across different scales, evolving into an asymmetrical, organic and translucent cluster that inhabits the space with lightness and presence.

The concept explores the idea of a body suspended between dream and matter, like a cloud that slowly takes form. Visitors are invited to enter and move through this luminous organism, immersing themselves in a sensory environment that evokes poetry, beauty and the subtle “bubbling” essence of the wine universe. From the beginning, the installation was conceived around two fundamental principles: its ability to be reused in future editions of the festival and the need for efficient and compact storage. The inflatable structure allows for a large-scale visual impact while ensuring ease of assembly, disassembly and transportation, providing the Municipality of Monção with a sustainable, durable and logistically efficient artwork.

The piece is developed as an inflatable translucent structure made of resistant materials, composed of multiple grape-like volumes inspired by the natural geometry of the berry. The veins and textures across the surfaces evoke the vascular system of the grape, where sap and nutrients flow, reinforcing the symbolic connection with nature and the cycle of life.

Light is a central element of the experience. The integrated interior illumination evolves continuously throughout the day and night, moving through shades of green, golden yellow and warm white inspired by the colours of the Alvarinho grape. This dynamic interaction of light creates subtle gradients and changing atmospheres, offering different interpretations of the artwork throughout the evening.

Visually, Nubago stands out through its scale and its organic forms, which intertwine and appear to float in space. Soft and precise lighting reveals each individual volume, transforming the translucent surfaces into vibrant and elegant organic shapes. More than an exhibition element, Nubago becomes a visual and sensory landmark of the Festa do Alvarinho, contributing to the identity and collective memory of the event. Its adaptability, reusability and long-term durability allow it to become an iconic presence over the years, elevating the visitor experience and strengthening the connection between contemporary art, territory and wine culture.
